Introducing Unicorn Collective!

by | Oct 10, 2017 | Denver, NEPA, Shanty News

As so many of you know, we absolutely LOVE small creative businesses! Besides attractive design, helping people build up their passions is OUR passion.

Through the years, we’ve thrown and sponsored numerous craft and arts events (and even won a couple awards), to help the creative/maker industry flourish. In our eyes, makers make shit happen. They hustle to create a product they KNOW people are going to love. Whether they are moms inspired to try new natural approaches to every day life through the use of essential oils, twenty somethings with a creative outlet in jewelry making, or someone who just has the maker-bug and dabbles in a little bit of everything, we admire them. The time it takes to have an idea and see it through to fruition, on your own nonetheless, is nothing short of amazing.

We know the work that goes into getting an idea up and running, learning through trial & error, and getting customers to understand what makes it special. You could have the most AMAZING idea in the world, but if no one is paying attention, what’s the next step?

Shanty Town has been selling at craft fairs and online marketplaces for years and the issue we see so many people run into? Getting found. When you’re working on a product (of any kind!), perfecting it to the point of obsession, changing and re-evaluating ingredients or materials, the last thing you’re thinking about is “How am I going to sell it?”

Many people think things happen organically, which sometimes they do. But, with social media and the amount of things going viral, how is one person, hustling to create this beautiful thing, supposed to switch gears to learn the ins and outs of marketing, competition, promotion, sales, customer service, online platforms, etc? We can tell you, it’s hard.

So we started a little something… Unicorn Collective.

Samantha of Shanty Town Design along with fellow entrepreneur, Lenny, decided to create an online shop where the makers can focus on what they love, making. Not only that, but customers can shop in a place where they can guarantee things are special and of quality. The entire shop is curated to showcase the best of the best in handmade & ethical goods; from bath & beauty items to jewelry and home decor.

The best part? Each item in some way, aligns within the boundaries of sustainability, eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and organic goods. So not only, can customers shop small 24/7 365 in an environment that’s easy to find exactly what they’re looking for, but also know that their purchases are ethical, natural, and environmental conscious. 🙂
