If you’re a service-based business owner, it’s important to make a memorable connection with your customers that will last. You want them to feel appreciated and valued, so they’ll keep coming back. Here are some tips to help you create those lasting connections.
Be authentic
Make sure you know your customers inside and out. Understand what their goals are, who they are as people, and what motivates them. Once you know your customer, you can provide them with a personalized experience and support. You are both helping each other achieve goals. Don’t be afraid to communicate that you’re grateful for them.
Reaching their goals is your goal
While your customers help you achieve your goals, it’s your job to help them achieve theirs. Supporting each other can have a huge impact. Everyone can grow and accomplish their goals together. The same goes for product-based businesses. In the most basic of terms, it’s a customer’s goal to solve a problem. Whether that problem is finding a gift for a party (online retail shop), ordering the perfect flowers for a special occasion (florist), wanting their child to enroll in a gymnastics class to support their interests (gymnastics studio), or helping another business through leadership coaching (consulting services). Everyone is trying to get somewhere and you can help them get there!
Give your customers a shout-out
Don’t be afraid to collaborate with your customers. Bounce ideas off each other, feature them on your social pages, and share the events they have coming up. Show your audience that you’ve got to work with some amazing people. It’ll keep you both at the top of each other’s minds and make for a longer-lasting customer connection. It makes for great content, too!
Share love letters
There is nothing more rewarding than getting positive feedback. Encourage your customers to leave reviews and share their experiences with you. If you’ve supported a customer by purchasing from them, exchange reviews. Everyone is working hard to have as many happy customers as possible. This little step will keep you both connected and if the review is less than favorable, you’ll both grow from it.
Help the connection with your customer last
Stay in touch. Follow them along on their journey and show your support. Even though you may be done working with them, check in. It is always a refreshing and heartwarming experience when you hear from someone you’ve had a pleasant experience with. All in all, customer relationships done right lead to the most successful partnerships. Putting in the extra effort to make the connections last will do wonders!
